I have not written as there has not been much to report. Everyone’s in decent spirits now that we’re actually moving. We’re all still somewhat battered, but no one seems to be healing poorly.

Maverick is unhappy with the slow pace, but it is now Isadora’s turn to distract her. She’s been riding her most of the time, one of the wagons or in front of me when I’m on shift with the cattle. I don’t like taking her for cattle work, but they’ve been calm despite the heat and Maverick would never let anything happen to her should my judgment falter.

It’s been blessedly uneventful. I’ve been able to get Isa to work on her letters. When the mood hits her she’s writing them in order.

Miss Morton approached me today. She’s healing well, and she requested I teach her to use a gun. I had been thinking about asking Mr. Sutter if he would be interested in me teaching her, as in her state should the worst happen again she’s largely incapable of running, and her pony is darling but she’s not exactly going to outrun much of anything. We’re going to wait a few days, but I have bottles to spare. She’s very enthusiastic.
